MAPS hosted Econ Lab from the 6th to the 8th August 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa. The workshop investigated the modelling tools and approaches by which robust assessment of the socio-economic implications of climate change mitigation scenarios can take place. Day one focused on conceptual issues; a discussion around socio-economic indicators, the credibility of results, and policy questions around these socio-economic implications of mitigation scenarios. Days two and three examined various approaches to and challenges with the linking of economy-wide models to sectoral models.
A factsheet consolidating learnings and reflections from the workshop is available. Related to this is the MAPS technical brief on the challenges linking models.
